The Meluza Machine

What is this Machine?

What it does…

  • Invites you to press a button, reels you in, gets your hopes up…
  • Blinds your eyes.
  • Makes you confused.

What it does not do…

  • Be helpful in any way.
  • Be useful.
  • Reflect your image.

How did we come up with this?

Our first Prototype!

Preparing for laser

Refining the Prototype

Laser cutting the cardboard to test the measurements.

Offsetting the cutouts in Rhino for a tighter fit.

Developing the Circuitry

Challenges with proximity sensor & blilnding sequence logic

“Embedding” the Circuitry

Iteration Process

Had to get rid of the back 3rd sheet concept because there was not enough acrylic.

While laser cutting on acrylic we lost the bottom holes.

Acrylic has different tolerances than cardboard so some components didn’t fit

Recut the LCD display hole. Sanded down the LED holes.

Creating a button from the capacitive touch sensor was TOUGH
